Congratulations brother!!!Today, we say farewell and happy retirement to Assistant Fire Marshal Scott Flora. He leaves us with over 36 years of dedicated service to the Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue and the citizens of Hampton. We wish you the best in your retirement and your new endeavors! You will be greatly missed and will always have a place here with your Fire Division family.

What is the biggest change you have seen in the last 36 years?
In reference to Fire Apparatus: Enclosed cabs, Automatic transmissions, A/C, seat belts, and computers.
In reference to Firefighter safety and equipment: Better turnout gear, lighter SCBA, 2 in 2 out rule, RIT, TIC.

What are you going to miss the most?
My fellow firefighters, close friends and comrades. (Camaraderie)

What are your future plans?
Working part-time for a private fire investigation firm, spending time with my grandkids and family.

Is there anything you would like to tell future generations of medic firefighters?
(Respect!) Treat each and every citizen with respect, dignity, and compassion, no matter the situation or time of day….in their eyes when they call 911….it is an emergency. Remember this is what you signed up for to help others and it is our mission.

Anything you want to add?
I can honestly say I have enjoyed working with each and every one that I have come into contacted with over my 36 year career. I have had some good days and some bad days like everyone, but I would not change a thing that I have done. It’s has honestly been an honor and a pleasure working with you all.
