Our thoughts and prayers are with the Brothers and Sisters of Frederick County Professional Fire Fighters IAFF L4145 as they mourn the loss of Fireman Ian Strickler who died in the Line of Duty on July 6th, 2023.

Fireman Strickler began recruit class #14 on July 3rd, 2023. On the mourning of July 6th, Fireman Strickler suffered a medical emergency and was transported to Winchester Medical Center where succumbed to his condition. Fireman Strickler’s death is considered a Line of Duty Death.

At 01:23 HDFR responded to a residential fire in the 80 BLK of Harris Creek Rd. Fire was out in 20 minutes. 3 adults were displaced and assisted by ⁦⁦ American Red Cross Virginia Region No injuries. The fire was determined to be accidental, caused by careless discard of smoking material.

We will be there for you and your family, ready to provide the highest level of service that our daily staffing will allow. We simply ask that you please inform our 911 call takers if ANYONE in the location is experiencing flu-like symptoms.

Local 2450 would like to say Congratulations to HRRFA Class 14 on their successful completion of the fire academy!! This is only the beginning, you have your whole career ahead of you! Stay Humble (from the great Lt. Rennie Boyd), stay passionate and never stop learning!! I know some are coming to the floor, others are going to EMT class best of luck to each of you and we will see you in the seat beside us very soon!!

Our Thoughts and Prayers go out to the victims, their families, our brothers and sisters in public safety and the City of Va Beach!!

We would like to get as many firefighters (Union and Non Union) as possible to City Hall on March 27. We will meet in the parking lot between 5 and 5:30 pm. President Nichols will be speaking to City Council about the retirement multiplier. We are trying to get them to pass the 1.85% multiplier for us. We are one of the only jurisdictions in our area that are below that. By getting the multiplier it will give us more money monthly when we retire. We want them to know that this is important to all of us not just a handful. If we show up with just 10-15 of us they will think this is only important to a few people. LETS FILL THE CHAMBERS AND SHOW THEM THIS IS IMPORTANT TO US ALL!! All firefighters and family members please wear a red shirt. We want to stand out so what better than red. If you are on duty please send a family member we want as many as possible. Please encourage all of your crew members, talk about it, invite everyone.
